FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

                                                                   DATE: November 7, 2008

The Exhibition “Then ‘Til Now” to Open at the Charles Harris Library Gallery in Wise, Virginia.

The exhibition, “Then ‘Til Now” will open at the Charles Harris Library Gallery on November 7, 2008 and will be open through November 30, 2008.

The exhibition consists of five series of prints, sculptures and paintings by artist Ray Stratton. His most recent series, Thought and Memory, is a poetic exploration of the overlap between those two mental states using Norse mythology as a starting point. Other series in the show explore ideas of travel and passage – whether literal or imagined. Stratton’s work is rooted in life experience: trepidation over new parenthood, memorable literary encounters, investigations of urban architecture, and rememberence of past acquaintances.

Ray Stratton is also an art instructor at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise.

A reception and artist talk will be held on Thursday November 13th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. All are welcome. Light refreshments will be provided. Stratton will give an informal talk on his work midway through the reception.
